Description

The Mobile Elevated Work Platform MEWP course is designed to meet the training requirements of applicable OSHA and ANSI A-92 standards. This course is recommended for operators, occupants and ground personnel working with MEWP such as scissor lifts, aerial lifts, articulating boom trucks, extensible boom trucks.

This course includes the content outlined below. All participants must complete the course including class-room participation and written exam.  A practical evaluation/ familiarization by the employer with each type of MEWP being operated is required before training is considered complete.

This course covers the following topics:

• Understand the Responsibilities of users of MEWP
• Identify the elements of a safe use plan
• Perform a risk assessment of operation areas
• Define operators and occupants responsibilities  
• Identify operating requirements
• How to properly perform a Pre-Start Inspection and Worksite Inspection
• Understand Fall Protection requirements
• Identify safety operational procedures including:
• Weather Conditions
• Ground Conditions
• Traveling
• Electrical Hazards
• Shut Down Procedures
• Annual Inspection requirements
• How to properly document operations of MEWP including:
• Pre-start Inspection Form
• Preventive Maintenance Checklist
• Risk Assessment Form
• Rescue Plan
