Description

New to AutoCAD? Want to gain the confidence to open, navigate, and make simple edits to AutoCAD drawings without relying on your design team? This course is designed for beginners who want to master the fundamentals of drafting, build essential technical skills, and start making practical design changes on their own. 

This four (4) hour program is delivered in 2 (2), two-hour-long sessions that students can attend online, right from their own desks. A live instructor will explain the detailed functions, and address questions as the class progresses. THIS COURSE IS ENTIRELY VIRTUAL.

Class Schedule:

March 26 (2 PM - 4 PM EST)

March 27 (2 PM - 4 PM EST)

Note: Instructor will present using Autodesk AutoCAD 2026. Students who wish to follow along with instructor are encouraged to use the same version.

Recording: Registrants for this course will receive access to a recording of each session for 7 consecutive days. Access will start the next business day after the session ends.

Must attend both sessions

Session 1: Understanding the Basics [March 26 (2 PM - 4 PM EST)]

  • Opening/Saving AutoCAD Files
  • Using the AutoCAD User Interface
  • Working with View and Zoom Controls
  • Drafting Primitives (Lines, Arcs, Shapes, etc.)
  • Understanding Concepts of Scale
  • Working with Model and Paper Space

Session 2: Editing Essentials [March 27 (2 PM - 4 PM EST)]

  • Understanding SNAP and OSNAP Tools
  • Grip Editing and Control of Objects
  • Working with Basic Editing Tools (Move, Copy, Rotate, etc.)
  • Working with Object Selection Tools
  • Controlling Object Properties
