2025 Preconstruction (Construction Academy)

Description

This class explains the importance of the pre-construction process and describes the planning that takes place during this construction phase. More than just estimating, pre-construction planning helps ensure that project cost estimates and proposals are thorough and accurate, and helps contractors minimize costly and time-consuming issues during construction. Students will explore the steps involved in creating an accurate construction bid - analysis, value management, logistics planning, scheduling, constructability review, procurement planning and technology considerations. 

You can participate in this class in person or via live stream. You will choose on the registration page. The Zoom link will be sent out the week of the class for anyone opting for the live stream.

Participants will be able to:

• Evaluate logistics issues that can affect cost and schedule
• Prepare a thorough cost estimate that incorporates the project-related items that may not be readily apparent in the construction documents
• Review documents to identify conflicts and create a constructability review log
• Develop a procurement plan for a sample project based on the local market conditions
