Description

The ATSSA flagger certification is a four-hour course designed for personnel responsible for traffic control on construction sites and public roadways. This course meets the requirements of DOT and MUTCD guidelines for traffic safety.


Students in the Flagger safety course will participate in classroom instruction, hands on demonstrations and a practical evaluation. Course materials include a course workbook and flagger handbook. Upon successful completion students will receive a ATASSA Flagger certification card.


Topics covered in this course include:


  • Standard flagger control references
  • Proper flagging control procedures
  • Who the flagger protects
  • Proper flagger clothing ANSI requirements
  • Flagging equipment warning signs
  • Demonstration of proper use of flagger paddle
  • Demonstrate proper hand signals
  • Emergency flagging procedures
  • Standard practices for varying situations requiring flagger
