Event Keynote - Building What Lasts: Protecting People, Preserving Wisdom, and Preparing Construction for What's Next (Emily Kile)

Construction has always depended on more than plans, processes, and equipment. It depends on experienced people who recognize when something does not look right, sense when a crew is struggling, and anticipate risk before it becomes an injury, resignation, quality issue, or project delay.
Today, construction is navigating a major transition. Experienced professionals are retiring, the workforce remains limited, project demands are increasing, and artificial intelligence is changing how knowledge is captured and used. While companies have access to more data than ever, some of their most valuable information still lives inside their people.
In this engaging and interactive keynote, performance neuroscientist Emily Kile introduces Living Indicators, the real-time human, behavioral, and relational signals that traditional reports may miss. Through relatable stories, approachable neuroscience, and live audience participation, Emily will explore how pressure affects attention, communication, decision-making, and trust.
Attendees will learn a practical framework to Notice emerging human signals, Capture the hard-earned wisdom of experienced workers, and Carry Forward that knowledge through leadership, mentorship, and responsible use of AI. The goal is not to replace human judgment with technology, but to protect people, preserve wisdom, and prepare the next generation to build safely and wisely.
Keynote Bio:
Emily’s career began in engineering, designing machinery in the carpet industry…until her dad lovingly fired her with a challenge: “You’re good at this, but you don’t love it. Go do what you love.” That pivot took her into organizational wellness and performance consulting, where she became a WELCOA Top 10 Wellness Practitioner before founding Workzbe.
Through Workzbe, Emily and her team provide coaching, consulting, and the WISE Assessment, helping teams work and play WISE: Well, Intelligent, Safe, and Empowered. Their work helps people build more clarity, connection, and consistency, whether they’re in a boardroom, on a job site, or in a locker room. Workzbe has also been named an Inc. Magazine Power Partner.
